Our New Beginning

We are beyond thrilled to finally be open for business, so we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what a "New Beginning" means to us and why we chose the name "New Beginnings Coffee".

First, coffee plays a significant role in many people’s daily routines. Drinking coffee in the morning symbolizes the start of a "new beginning" to the day. Taking wisdom from the Bible, we see that “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” We aim for New Beginnings Coffee to be part of that fresh start.

On a personal level, coffee roasting represents a new beginning for us as well. During the pandemic, David first started roasting on a small popcorn popper after learning from a Reddit post on r/coffee that it was possible to roast coffee beans this way. From that first experiment, it has been a journey of exploring different origins, roast profiles, and brewing methods. Our goal is to share this joy of great coffee with others.

Third, one of our commitments is to make donations to charitable organizations and nonprofits based on the origins of the coffee we sell. While it may be a stretch, we believe these contributions can serve as a "new beginning" for the ministries and organizations we support, allowing them to further their work and impact.

And last but certainly not least, we wanted to reflect the message found in 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Christ has given us a new beginning through His grace, and this theme of renewal is seen throughout the Bible. God makes "new beginnings" all over scripture, even in the Old Testament, as seen in Isaiah 43:19: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” This concept of renewal and transformation is central to our mission.
