Grown in the misty volcanic highlands of Kintamani, Bali, this distinctive Indonesian coffee reflects the rich agricultural heritage of one of the world's most unique coffee-growing regions. Cultivated between 1,300 and 1,600 meters above sea level, the coffee thrives in fertile, humus-rich volcanic soils that contribute to its remarkable depth and complexity.
Unlike many traditional coffee farms, Kintamani's producers have long practiced agroforestry, interplanting coffee among citrus trees throughout the region. This harmonious farming approach not only supports biodiversity but also helps shape the clean, vibrant character that sets Bali coffees apart from their Indonesian counterparts.
This Grade 1 Triple-Picked lot represents the highest quality classification for Indonesian coffee. Carefully hand-sorted to remove defects and ensure consistency, the beans undergo a traditional semi-washed process followed by wet hulling (known locally as Giling Basah). This method creates a cup with the rich body and earthy depth Indonesia is known for while preserving a surprising clarity and brightness.
In the cup, you'll discover notes of dark chocolate and aromatic cedar layered with hints of fresh rosemary. A lively grapefruit brightness cuts through the richness, creating a balanced and memorable finish. Full-bodied yet clean, this coffee offers a distinctive expression of Bali's volcanic landscape and centuries of agricultural tradition.
