This fully washed decaf from the highlands of Amazonas, Peru, defies expectations with a flavor profile that’s anything but muted. Grown at high elevations by smallholder farmers committed to sustainable, organic practices, it showcases rich notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and toasted nuts. A lively acidity brings a refreshing balance, offering hints of blackcurrant and citrus that add brightness and depth. It’s proof that decaf can still deliver complexity and character.
The caffeine is gently removed using the Swiss Water® Process—a natural, chemical-free method that preserves the coffee’s integrity from start to finish. Through a careful series of water-based extractions and carbon filtration, 99.9% of the caffeine is removed while leaving the coffee’s original flavors untouched. The result is a full-bodied, vibrant cup with all the nuance of a traditional brew—without the buzz. For those cutting back on caffeine but unwilling to compromise on taste, this is decaf done right.
Peru’s reputation as one of the world’s leading producers of organic Arabica coffee continues to grow, thanks to its rich biodiversity, ideal growing conditions, and dedication to quality. Despite recent challenges—such as aging farms and climate disruptions—efforts led by organizations like Volcafe Peru are working to revitalize the country’s coffee sector through infrastructure investment and farmer support. With each cup of this decaf, you're tasting not only the high-altitude terroir of northern Peru but also the resilience and care of the communities who grow it.
