From the fertile highlands of southern Tanzania comes this award-winning peaberry coffee, grown by smallholder farmers of the Isaiso Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS). Nestled at elevations of 1350–1490 masl in the Mbeya and Songwe regions, these one- to two-hectare farms are part of a tight-knit cooperative network focused on both quality and sustainability. In 2023, their dedication paid off when this very coffee took top honors in the Tanzania Fine Coffee Competition—an achievement that speaks volumes to the care behind every bean.
This washed-process peaberry features a unique cup profile that balances rich, layered flavor with delicate floral complexity. Expect dark chocolate and ripe plum at the base, lifted by juicy black currant and a gentle chamomile finish. The peaberry mutation—a rare occurrence where only one rounded bean forms inside the cherry instead of two—adds extra density and character, making for a more concentrated and consistent roast. With medium body and medium acidity, this coffee shines across a range of brewing methods.
In Tanzania, over 95% of the country’s coffee production flows through AMCOS cooperatives, which provide vital access to processing, transport, and global markets. Freshly harvested cherries from Isaiso’s smallholder farms are delivered daily to Coffee Production Units, where they're meticulously sorted, fermented, and washed. The result is a vibrant, high-quality green coffee that reflects the promise of Tanzania’s rising specialty scene—and the power of collaboration at origin.
